How To: Nominate Me for a DD by =ian-x:iconian-x:

How To: Nominate Me for a Daily Deviation
Author: Ian X. (http://ian-x.deviantart.com)

Topic Area: DeviantArt How-To (hyper-specific)
Date: Updated November 9th, 2009
Attitude: Tongue in Cheek. Please don't kill me.

Step 1.: Find a photo by me that you like. There are literally hundreds of them, so this should be relatively easy if you have good taste. Alternatively, you could find a digital artwork or arrogant how-do document.

Step 2.: Add the photo as a favorite. This is very easy. The button looks like a star with a plus sign. It makes me smile.

Step 3.: Add a comment telling me how much you like the photo, and why. I am very succeptible to flattery. This also shows you genuinely like the image, which will help if the GM has read this document. Wait. Crap.

Step 4.: Confirm whether I have received a DD in the last 90 Days. If so, do not nominate me. Use this handy chart:

A. It is between August 21st 2007 and Thanksgiving 2007 - I have, please wait until Turkey coma has set in.

B. It is between Thanksgiving 2007 and October 20th 2008 - Totally eligible, those bastards! Not that I'm bitter. You should check out the one that did win, though, it's pretty great. Not my best, but whatever. Right near the beginning of my Featured section in my Gallery. Help me re-live the glory days of last August.

C. It is between October 20th 2008 and January 20th 2009 - You'll have to restrain yourself for a little longer. Maybe write yourself a note to send out the suggestions later?

D. It is between January 20th and May 10th, 2009 - Please wait until warmer weather.

        E. It is after May 10th, 2009 - Perfect time to nominate one of my images. I recommend you work based on my Featured or the folder "For Your Consideration" if you have trouble choosing.

        F. It is between November 4th and February 2nd - Please wait. Your nomination is very important to us. If you stay on the line, someone will be with you in the order your nomination was received.

       G. After February 2nd, 2009 - You probably shouldn't bother. I have four DDs, against all reason and taste. The odds of a Deviant getting a fifth DD are ridiculous even if they are talented.

Step 5.: Click the "Share This/Blog It" link, which looks like a tiny tiny pencil and paper. This will include a thumbnail of my wonderful photograph, digital artwork, or overly self-referential how-to document.

Step 6.: Click "Send it in a Note..." to continue.

Step 7.: In the To field, type the username of the appropriate Gallery Director. Determine who the appropriate Gallery Director is using the handy and informative information at http://moonbeam13.deviantart.com/journal/3103209/

Step 8.: Under the thumbnail, explain to the GD why this image deserves a Daily Deviation. Do not mention this document. (Unless you are nominating this document itself for a DD.) Arty references like subtext, tonality, composition, and palette are always appreciated.

Step 9.: Click Send

Step 10.: Send me a note congratulating me.

Step 11.: Pat yourself on the back for a job well done. Wait for your fabulous <strike>bribe</strike> <strike>prize</strike> Thank You Note.

Author's Comments

A very serious issue discussed in painstaking detail. (Updated slightly after the surprise of my second DD, and again 89 days after that. I don't feel right leaving inaccurate details out there. heh)

Don't nominate this for a DD, I don't want to have to update it again. ;)

More Serious Update: Please don't nominate me for DDs because of this submission. It was a joke based on my recent articles on the subject. (Did you know that based on a poll I took, about half of the community doesn't nominate DDs?)

lol. I hope not, it was meant to be a joke! I figured it would disqualify me for a while in principle.

I've written a couple of articles about it, but thought this approach might get more attention to the subject. heh
