-- BEST WORK - [link] THE DEATHLINGS: New comic, check out our site! FAN ART CONTEST for The Deathlings! I was going to try to critique this, but I just can't.
Why do I feel as if I've seen this before on a larger scale? Anyways, the full view impact is phenomenal. Scares the hell out of me because I can't see what's going on at all back there... -- ...One need not be a chamber to be haunted. One need not be a house. I'm sure you knew you were playing with a very cliched concept, but I'm impressed nevertheless because you still put your own twist on it. That being said, lets start with the title.
The first time I saw it I thought, "the title doesn't match the image." And no matter how I look at it now, I stall can't match the two up in any non-demented way. This is because, 1. the expression on her face doesn't speak of passion, it screams of agony, 2. plastic and blood in any combination just don't equate to passion in my mind, 3. even if this were hardcore sex behind the curtain I don't think it would involve this much blood if it were passionate. I'll refrain from making a serial killer joke here.
Anyway, as hard as I try my mind just can't conjure up a scenario where blood and a plastic sheet and a screaming girl would make for a passionate night out. Actually, the model's face always reminds me of a ghost. So maybe she died a passionate death at the hands of her jealousy-fueled lover.
But I must say that the lighting was (once again) genius and I do like the hand in silhouette. So even though the shot is fresher and more interesting than most in this category I still find it exaggerated and very cliche.
